Rund 50 Jugendliche aus West- und Osteuropa beim Freiwilligenfestival

WERNSDORF Das Jodeldiplom kennt fast jeder aus dem Sketch von Loriot. Doch rund 50 Jugendliche aus sieben Ländern West- und Osteuropas haben nun erfahren, dass Jodeln auch etwas mit internationaler Verständigung zu tun haben kann. Sie nehmen seit Montag am Internationalen Freiwilligenfestival "EurIdea" im Kinderferien- und Tagungshaus in Wernsdorf teil. Dort veranstaltete der Schweizer Manuel für die anderen einen Jodelworkshop. "Es war toll", sagt Anna aus Polen. "Wir haben erst geschrien und dann komische Laute gemacht."

EurIDea07 is a one-week creative festival with workshops, discussions and cultural events. The title means Europe, Identity, Ideas or just "your idea". Each participant commits him/herself to preparing their own workshop connected to the umbrella theme of the Festival, which this year is

"European Identity: who are you - and where do you stand?"

The Festival is open to participation from 56 active volunteers from Germany, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland and, for the very first time, France (a chance to be informed about France´s European vision under a new President).

Besides this, it is planned to invite a sprinkling of other international guests.

Sub-Themes are, amongst others:

• Is there such a thing as a "European culture"? Is it shared by all countries within Europe? Do we find it outside the borders of the EU?
  

• Is Europe "Christian"? What does this mean for other religions? Can non-christian countries belong to Europe?

• Is the european integration process only an economic one? What can be done to change that?

• What are European values and norms? To what extent do human rights, democracy, protection of minorities, social justice, environment protection, sustainability belong to those?

• European and national identity - do they belong together, complement each other or are they contradictory?

• How strong are national divergencies within EU-countries, do they prevent EU-extension?
  

• Are our neighbours to the East different - can, should they join or be allowed to join the EU & NATO? Do they want to?
  

• Does the EU steal the independence of countries? Should the national states emancipate themselves or else integrate more?
  

• Does the EU create new walls in Europe? How can these be overcome? Is it right that the EU speaks "in the name of Europe and the Europeans..."?
  

• Do we need a European Constitution and, if so, how should it differ from the previous one?
  

• What can be done to stop the spreading of racism, xenophobia, anti-semitism and right-wing extremist thinking throughout Europe?
  

• Should Europe play the role of "policeman" in the world?
  

Plenty of things to think about and prepare interesting workshops...

EurIdea kommt nach Deutschland

Das kreative Freiwilligenfestival EurIDea kommt dieses Jahr wieder nach Deutschland und wird 15. – 22. September in der Nähe von Berlin stattfinden.

EurIDea steht für Europa, Identität und lautmalerisch für Deine Idee. Für das Ereignis treffen sich 56 Freiwillige, vor allem aus Russland, Moldawien, der Ukraine, Belarus, Polen, Frankreich und Deutschland, zu einer Woche zusammenleben und sich kennen lernen, Workshops und Theater, Lagerfeuer und Gitarre...

Das Besondere an EurIDea ist, dass das Programm des Festivals praktisch ausschließlich von den TeilnehmerInnen gestaltet wird, denn jede Teilnehmerin organisiert einen Workshop für die Anderen. Auf diese Weise gibt es so viele Workshops wie TeilnehmerInnen und die Vielfalt ist immens.

Das diesjährige Rahmenthema ist „Europäische Identität“. Unter diesen Oberbegriff kann diskutiert werden, ob Europa die nationale Identität unterdrückt, oder ob eine gemeinsame Europäische Identität im Entstehen ist, ob Europa ein Raum oder eine Gesinnung, eine Idee ist und wann Sibirien zur EU gehören wird, ob es bestimmte Europäische Werte gibt und welche das wären, und vieles mehr – was genau hängt von den Workshops der TeilnehmerInnen ab.

EurIDea findet nun zum vierten Mal in Folge und zum zweiten Mal in Deutschland statt. Letztes Jahr trafen sich die Freiwilligen in der Ukraine und gestalteten und erlebten ein fantastisches Festival.
Daran wollen wir anknüpfen und neue Höhepunkte in der Geschichte von EurIDea setzen. EurIDea 2007 wird organisiert von der Ost-West AG des SCI Deutschland mit Hilfe von John Myers und einem internationalen Vorbereitungsteam aus den sechs Hautpteilnahmeländern. Gefördert wird EurIDea 2007 vom „Youth in Action“ Programm der Europäischen Union.
